Operating from its community development centre in Batticaloa, Child Action Lanka is using the StreetSmart mobile school as a powerful tool to connect with children and families in nearby communities. The decision to shift the location was driven by a clear goal: to maximise the impact of the programme by reaching communities where access to education and development opportunities are even more limited.

Since the move and the StreetSmart transfer training in August, the team has already conducted over 50 sessions, engaging more than 1,500 participants during non-formal educational outreach sessions. These sessions focus on a wide variety of topics such as interactive learning, life skills, and personal development, tailored to the specific needs of children in the region.

The successful transfer to Batticaloa underscores Child Action Lanka’s strong leadership and vision, as well as the mobile school’s flexibility and relevance across diverse settings. We’re proud and grateful to be on this journey with the teaam of Child Action Lanka and we’re really excited about what’s still ahead!
