S.A.L.V.E. International (Support and Love Via Education) was founded in 2008 and is dedicated to creating opportunities for street-connected children to leave the streets and rejoin their families and communities. Their work focuses on education, counselling, family reunification, and long-term support to help children build a brighter, safer future. With a strong emphasis on dignity, trust, and potential, S.A.L.V.E. is making a real difference for vulnerable youth in the region.

During a week-long implementation training in Jinja, the street educators of S.A.L.V.E. learned everything there is to know about the mobile school and the 280+ educational panels. Together with a couple of key stakeholders, an official launched was organised to inform the local authorities on the objectives of the new project. After the official launch event and a couple of basic workshops with the street workers, the team was ready to hit the streets! During the first sessions, the mobile school was warmly welcomed by the many children living and working on the streets of Jinja. About 35 to 50 children attended the first two sessions which were organised on the St Jude football pitch and in the centre of Jinja town.

The new mobile school in Jinja will operate from S.A.L.V.E. International’s Drop-in Centre, where 30 to 50 children come each day for essential services and psychosocial support. It’s here that the team begins building trust with the children, laying the foundation for their reintegration journey. With the help of the mobile school these children will now also benefit from access to playful, interactive learning that nurtures their confidence, curiosity, and life skills.

The partnership with S.A.L.V.E. International is definitely off to a great start, and we can’t wait to watch the journey unfold for our second mobile school in Uganda!
